In a few years, space tourism should become a reality on the Moon or Mars, in particular thanks to suborbital flights. In order to organize these trips, spaceports will be essential. However, Japan wants to design one next year.
By 2050, many spaceports should be present on Earth. As an article by DesignBoom explains, Japan already wants to jump on the bandwagon and have a spaceport for 2021 . This project is that of the Space Port Japan Association, bringing together several large companies. With the skills of Noiz Architects, this association aims to make Japan the center of space tourism in Asia. This project is not just about building a spaceport. It is actually a spaceport city which should include a research center, a school and a business district.
The whole thing will obviously be in the space theme. The place could host events such as international conferences or fashion shows. The city will also house an art museum, recreation rooms, hotels, a gymnasium and an aquarium. A farm could complete the facilities. This would then produce food for astronauts . It could be about algae, insects and plant-based foods.
Nevertheless, the Space Port Japan Association especially emphasizes the presence of all the necessary infrastructure for the operation of space vehicles . Areas will therefore be allocated to the maintenance of machinery, air and space control and of course, the boarding of passengers and goods. Let's not forget the connection with the city's transport.
“The whole facility forms a small ecosystem with intelligent internal transport (self-driving cars, self-driving train and electric scooters) “, can we read in the presentation page of the project by Noiz Architects.
Spaceports (or spaceports) are essential for space tourism. The company already has its own:the Spaceport America built in 2011. In 2018, the United Kingdom declared that its first spaceport would be installed in Scotland. In June 2020, SpaceX announced its intention to build a floating spaceport for launching rockets offshore. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, space tourism has not yet started. However, companies like Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic wanted to make their first commercial flights in 2020 .
